I am Himani, a product designer from Raleigh.
I started my professional career as a graphic designer, after completing my Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Marketing, and shortly after getting a certification in Print Media, Visual Effects & Motion Graphics I entered the world of broadcast.
During my career, I have worked for leading broadcasters around the world as a real-time broadcast designer. I started working as a Designer for a broadcasting graphics company called Wasp3d, then went on to become a Product Specialist. As a product specialist, working on several projects that had me work directly with clients, understanding their needs, and coming up with solutions in form of product features, I discovered my passion for product designing.
Project 01
FinWiz Client
The business application of Wasp3d's Workflow

"FinWiz", the feed handler module of the WASP3D Business graphics workflow communicates with most wire-feeds to extract the latest data and make it available for instantaneous on-air playout.

Zee Business, India uses WASP3D Business Graphics Broadcast Services to cater to all its custom business graphic template requirements.

MY ROLE
I worked as the primary designer for this module with input from the development team and my direct manager. The design team consisted of myself, another visual designer, and a content designer.

I was responsible for concept development, wireframe design, and low fidelity prototyping. I visited customers to conduct contextual inquiries, document their observations, and synthesize their findings to inform their design solutions.

I led a weekly cross-functional checkpoint meeting to get Product Management, UI Development, & Backend Development together to collaborate and share progress.

Prepare test case scenarios & train testing team members on new features.

MY DESIGN PROCESS
OVERVIEW
The application is used to populate real-time data updates & live feeds from third-party business data providers, (Money line, Reuters, local newswires, etc.), into the templates & save their graphics directly into the rundown and make it available for instantaneous on-air playout. It supports on-air real-time updates at the press of a button, even with graphics already on-air.

Module was divided into three major parts- Data Entry, Sheet Terimal & Rundown for triggering graphics on-air.

TARGET USERS
The target users of the application are producers and journalists, graphic artists, and production control room operators working in a business channel.
RESEARCH & PLANNING
When this project started I conducted several interviews with both users and stakeholders to understand the current limitations from both a front and back end perspective to design a holistic solution. I also studied competitors' product to see what features they are offering and their workflow.
